First Blue Nile Retail Store Likely to Open on Long Island

Blue Nile’s first retail store appears to be opening on New York’s Long Island, according to a job ad on its site.

The ad seeks a “web room retail store manager” who will lead a team of diamond and jewelry consultants, and who understands the company’s “white glove culture.”

No other information was available, though Blue Nile previously had set up a showcase in a Nordstrom at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y., also on Long Island. (At least one ad suggests the new web room retail store will also be in Garden City.)

The company has declined to give a timetable for the opening, though Wells Fargo Securities analysts have said in a research note they believe it will open in the second quarter.

New York is one of two states where Blue Nile currently collects sales tax.

Blue Nile’s PR rep did not respond to a request for more information from JCK.
