Some 82% of Americans recently surveyed will travel the continental U.S. for spring and summer vacations this year. Roper/Audits & Surveys Worldwide, New York, polled 1,000 Americans age 18 and up to find out their travel plans for the immediate future. The overwhelming majority of respondents will be traveling domestically, inevitably increasing domestic spending. The firm attributes the vacationing public’s decision to stay local to a “lingering sense of insecurity.”
