Exclusive: Head of De Beers Retail Chain in U.S. Resigns

Hamida Belkadi, the CEO of the U.S. division of the De Beers retail chain
since 2007, is resigning at the end of this year to pursue other interests, JCK has learned.

No replacement has been named at press time.

Belkadi, the company’s former chief operating officer, was named acting CEO
following the
departure of Alyce Alston in 2007
, and became permanent CEO in 2009.

François
Delage, CEO of De Beers Diamond Jewellers, said in a statement, “Hamida has been hugely instrumental in the
development of De Beers Diamond Jewellers in the U.S., having initially been
responsible for the Sales and Marketing for the business, including the
opening each of the 10 stores in the US. Since February 2009, she has been
responsible for the entire business which she has managed for us through a
particularly difficult economic climate.”

“Throughout her tenure, Hamida has shown great passion and
commitment,” he continued. “We thank her efforts in this regard and wish her all the very best
in her new pursuits.”
