Dona Mary Dirlam to Receive AGA Lifetime Achievement Award



The Accredited Gemologists Association will present Dona Mary Dirlam with the AGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 4.

Dirlam has been the director of the GIA’s Richard T. Liddicoat Gemological Library and Information Center for more than 30 years, expanding it from a 2,000-book installation to a 16,000-book resource center. She has coauthored 12 articles for the GIA’s Gems & Gemology journal and is the author of the book Splendour and Science of Pearls.

“Ms. Dirlam is recognized for incomparable contributions to the gemological community through an enduring commitment to securing and safeguarding the written works of researchers and scholars, both past and present, for the benefit of the global gemological community of today and tomorrow,” said AGA president Stuart Robinson.

The award will be presented at AGA’s gala dinner dance on Feb 4. in Tucson.
