The Diamond Empowerment Fund has donated $100,000 to the Top Achievers Program in Botswana this month, doubling its original $50,000 donation in September 2011.
The grant supports future leaders in Africa, providing tuition compensation to students. Through the program, top high school students in Botswana are selected to study at universities throughout the world.
“This gift is a commitment from us to empower African youth and further Botswana’s vision of a thriving economy built on the responsible use of its natural resources to benefit its people,” said Russell Simmons, cofounder of the Diamond Empowerment Fund, in a statement.
