Diamond Detective and Best Practices Expert Join GIA Symposium Speakers

The Gemological Institute of American announced two
additional speakers for the GIA Symposium 2011 business track agenda for May
29–30 in Carlsbad, Calif.

Dr. Brian Nattrass, a leading expert on sustainability and
corporate social responsibility, will present “Playing a Bigger Game: Better
Business for a Better World.” Issues such as mining conditions where gemstones
are sourced, recycled materials in jewelry, and determining whether a company
is socially responsible will be discussed.

Patrick Peys, a detective with the Belgian Federal Police
Service, will present “Masterminds and Thieves: Tales of Intrigue, Swindles and
Heists.” Peys is the lead detective of the Diamond Squad, the world’s only
police team that specializes in diamond crimes.
