De Beers subsidiary Diamdel
saw healthy sales in its final online auctions for 2010, it announced recently.
“In the fourth quarter, we again witnessed a very strong
level of demand,” Neil Ventura, CEO of Diamdel, said in a statement. “This
makes us bullish about demand prospects for first quarter, 2011.
In the second half of 2010, Diamdel auctioned 532 lots, 98
percent of which were sold on their first presentation. A total of 238
different companies, and 134 different winners, emerged.
Jonathan Whitney, director of sales and marketing, noted
that both sightholders and non-sightholders participated in the auctions,
winning an equal amount of lots, and purchasing an equal amount in value terms.
In related news, Diamdel opened its new office in Israel on
Jan. 16.
