Department Stores Cite Strong February Jewelry Sales

Department stores Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and
Bon-Ton all reported strong jewelry sales for February.

Jewelry was among the strongest retail categories at Saks in February. Sales totaled $196.2 million for the four weeks
ending Feb. 26, compared with $171.7 million for the four weeks ending Feb. 27,
2010. Store sales increased 15.3 percent for the month.

Retail sales for Neiman Marcus’ specialty retail segment,
which includes Bergdorf Goodman, increased 12.6 percent, with precious
jewelry among the strongest performing retail categories. Revenues were $282
million for February 2011, compared with $249 million in February 2010.

Bon-Ton reported fine jewelry sales performed well in
February, including watch sales.

The company reported a 1.1 percent decrease in total sales
for February 2011. Sales were $197.7 million for February 2011, compared with $199.9
million in February 2010.
