De Beers Diamond Jewellers, the company’s retail chain, says
that after a difficult 2009, it is now seeing strong growth, according to De
Beers’ 2010 Operating and Financial Review.
The chain, a joint
venture with LVMH, now comprises 40 stores worldwide. In November 2010, it opened
two new stores in Kyoto Daimaru, Japan, and Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Stores
in Taiwan and Japan were closed.
In 2011, the company plans to open in new territories,
including Bahrain and Kazakhstan, either directly or with partners. It has also
developed a new brand identity and advertising campaign.
