The Diamond Dealers Club synagogue was dedicated Tuesday to former president Jacob Banda yesterday, during a memorial service for him on the bourse floor.
Banda, club president for nine years, died recently after a long illness.
Speakers, including president Moshe Mosbacher, remembered Banda as a man who did good deeds for others, and urged members to follow his example.
Dedicating the club synagogue to Banda was particularly apt, Mosbacher said, since it had “special meaning” for him.
The service was attended by hundreds of club members as well as Banda’s family.
