David Langhammer honored posthumously by OJA

Ohio jewelers honored the memory of David Langhammer, founder and president of Quality Gold, by giving him the 2006 “Legends Award” during the Columbus Jewelry Show.

The Legends Award is presented annually by the Ohio Jewelers Association to an exhibitor who has demonstrated excellence and professionalism in the jewelry industry. Accepting the award in Langhammer’s behalf were his sons Jason and Michael, who now run the company.

Langhammer died on March 18. He was 65.

Langhammer started the Fairfield, Ohio-based company in 1979 as a one-man operation, traveling from store to store. The company eventually outgrew its regional focus and expanded into a 118,000-square-foot facility that distributes millions of pieces of fine jewelry each year.

The Columbus Jewelry Show was held Aug. 19 and 20 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
