The ”Dateline NBC” segment on “conflict diamonds” is expected to air on July 1.
Dr. Bob Arnot, the show’s medical correspondent, is the reporter for the show, which will focus on the role diamonds have played in fueling war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Like the previous reports on ”60 Minutes” and ”Prime Time Live,” this show is expected to be highly critical of the industry and its efforts. Some industry executives, however, are grateful it is airing in the summer, when audience levels are typically lower.
World Diamond Council heads Eli Izhakoff and Matthew A. Runci were interviewed for the show.
