Dalumi Names Winner of Design Competition

The Dalumi Group has named Vishal Kanubhai Vaghasia the winner of its first “When The Source Turns Into Inspiration” jewelry design competition.

Jewelry designers were invited to create a themed collection or a single piece expressing feminine allure, using Dalumi’s flagship “Yellow-Shade Diamonds” as inspiration. Dalumi intends to use Vaghasia’s design as the basis for a new collection.

Dalumi said it was delighted with the response as more than 50 young designers from all over the world sent in designs within the two-month call prior to the May 20 deadline.

Vagahsia is a 24 years old jewelry designer from Mumbai, India, who started his career as a diamond cutter and grader. He aims to become a successful jewelry designer seeking inspiration in the various elements of nature and converting them into innovative jewelry designs.

“When the Source Turns Into Inspiration” reflects Dalumi’s commitment to supporting new talent and discovering fresh ways to express femininity.

“We are really proud to give upcoming designers the opportunity to show their creativity and talent”, said Yuval Kemp, head of marketing and business development at Dalumi. “Our collections always reflect new styles, shapes and materials answering the changing needs of our customers. The innovative concept realized by Vishal Kanubhai Vaghasia and its unique mounting suggested for our “Yellow-Shade Diamonds” fit perfectly with our design philosophy.”

The winning design makes Dalumi’s yellow shade diamonds the focal point, by contrasting them with white diamonds mounted on gold.

“What I’ve done is fused contemporary with classic, drawing attention to Dalumi’s yellow shade diamonds”, Vaghasia said. “I’m following the Dalumi philosophy of creating magnificent pieces for people who love effortless luxury. My piece can be
worn any time of day and for special occasions.”

Competition judging committee included Alan Woolff, vice president of Merchandising at ICE.com, Hedda Schupak, editor-in-chief of JCK magazine, and Vered Dalumi Itzchaki, managing director of Dalumi.
