Cuervo y Sobrinos celebrates 125 Years

Luxury watch brand Cuervo y Sobrinos recently celebrated it 125th anniversary with an evening gala at the famed La Zarzuela racetrack in Madrid, Spain, decorated to evoke the atmosphere of old, pre-revolutionary Havana, Cuba. The hundreds of guests included those from business, politics and the press, and the company’s retailers and customers.

The Swiss-made brand, originally founded in Havana in 1882 was re-launched in 2002 by its Spanish owners.

Strolling couples in 1950s attire mingled with the guests at La Zarzuela, evoking an earlier era. There were elaborate cigars rolled to order, classic car exhibits, a mojito bar, and horse races (with horses named after various watch models).

After the races, guests sat for dinner under an enormous tent as a Cuban style big band played late into the night.

In addition to the Havana-style nightclub show, dancing and comedians, there was a serious side to the event.  Three limited-edition watches, specifically manufactured for this event, were auctioned for charity.
