CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, has announced that the venue of 2009 CIBJO Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, has been moved to the Sheraton Istanbul Ataköy Hotel. The CIBJO Congress will run from May 3 through May 5.
“The decision to move the congress venue was so that a greater number of participants would be able to attend the event,” said CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri. “In light of the current economic situation, we decided it would be prudent to choose a facility that is more affordable to a greater number of members. With that said, the Sheraton Istanbul Ataköy is a well located, beautiful new hotel with excellent conference facilities.”
Part of the Starwood Group, the Sheraton Istanbul Ataköy Hotel overlooks the Sea of Marmara and is located alongside the Ataköy Marina and the sea bus terminal. The hotel and conference complex is eight minutes from Ataturk International Airport, 10 minutes from Sultanahmet, the cultural and tourism highlight of Istanbul, and 20 minutes from the historic Taksim Square
Participants in the 2009 CIBJO Congress will be able to register for the congress and book hotel rooms for the event through a dedicated 2009 CIBJO Congress Web site, located at http://congress2009.cibjo.org.
The site also includes background material about Istanbul, the Turkish jewelry industry, and past CIBJO congresses. In the weeks leading up to the event, the congress program, spouses program, speakers list, and biographies, and a press kit will be uploaded.
The congress Web site was designed and created by CIBJO’s Web site provider, Kognitor.com. The 2009 CIBJO Congress is being hosted by the Turkish Jewellery Association.
