If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that gone (or at least, rare) are the days of my jewelry, food, and travel photos, replaced instead by a bouncing baby in various poses that probably all look the same to you, but are remarkably different and precious to me. It’s the age-old tale of woman has baby, Instagram account becomes photo album dedicated to that baby.
That’s why I’m drawn to numbers—that is, items featuring numbers that can be used in a series of monthly or even weekly photos. “I’m 4 months old today!” that sort of thing. So Chatham‘s debut of its anniversary collection, celebrating 80 years, is right up my alley.
The pendants take a two-tone design, combine golden digits in a sort of script font, and pair them with a sparkling, open oval shape, which serves as a frame for the numbers, available in 1-9.
As Chatham specializes in lab-grown gemstones, it’s only natural that the pendants would be constructed using lab-grown diamonds as well. Each pendant features just under a half-carat of them (0.41 ct. t.w.).
The oval shape functions as a zero, so for example, you can read 10, 20, and 50 in the pendants pictured. But I also think you could see the oval as simply a decorative dash of shine, meaning these pendants could just as easily pass for 1, 2, and 5.
“Everyone has milestones to celebrate, be it a birth, a marriage, or just coming of age,” said Tom Chatham, CEO, in a press release. “This collection is the perfect gift to celebrate and honors these occasions.”
Each pendant retails for just under $1,000 (chain not included), so I won’t exactly be snagging all of them for my daughter’s monthly birthday photos, but just one would certainly be a commemorative treasure for a first birthday or a 10th wedding anniversary that is rapidly approaching (ahem).
As Chatham certainly has cause to celebrate—the company’s debut is marked by a scientific breakthrough in crystal growth in 1938—it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate our own breakthroughs with them. The new anniversary collection is a splendid way to do just that. Congratulations to the Chatham team and to anyone celebrating, no matter what the occasion!
