Charles & Colvard, Ltd., the sole source of moissanite, was included as one of America’s “200 Best Small Companies” by Forbes magazine.
The Morrisville, N.C.-based company fell in at number 73 on the list. The company was previously unranked.
In its introduction, the business publication laid out its criteria for making the list:
Our list of the 200 Best Small Companies ferrets out the most robust, fundamentally disciplined public outfits with sales between $5 million and $750 million. To qualify, a company must have had a share price above $5 as of Sept. 29 on three-month average volume of 10,000 or more shares. Candidates must also carry profit margins of greater than 5%, with positive sales and profit growth, on average, over both the last five years and last 12 months. The result? Small, but growing, businesses designed to survive the ups and downs of market volatility.
