This time of year, everything is just so beautiful. It doesn’t matter where you are—in the city, in the country, in the suburbs. Stores and neighbors put up their lights, and a simple walk becomes more an act of sightseeing, a means of getting in the spirit.
It’s hard not to get caught up in the glitz and glamour of it all, festively fitting for not only our environments, but ourselves as well. It’s no wonder the holiday season inspires dressing to the nines—we must compete with (or mimic) the twinkling decor that constantly surrounds us. It’s why sequined attire is abundant, shimmering Lurex is enjoying a welcome comeback, and plush velvet feels especially appropriate.
And then there are the jewels.
The average customer looking to make a massive statement will likely turn to fashion jewelry, perhaps bigger fine pieces with lab-grown gemstones, or even costume jewelry. But one very fortunate client, one with impeccable taste, will reach for this.
An ombré assortment of blue and green tourmaline makes an unforgettable impression in Cicada’s exquisite necklace, complete with baguette diamond spacers and a lavish platinum setting. Not content with leaving it at that, the New York–based jeweler completes the colorful display with one larger blue tourmaline dangling at the center, a gratifying addition that brings next-level luxury.
With a retail price coming in at just under $300,000, this might be the kind of treasure that spends much of its time in the vault. And yet, its cool blue and green tones would play so nicely with all seasons’ ensembles (and imagine what a gift for an October baby this would be!), it warrants continuous replay as the centerpiece of every special occasion.
For now, though, it’s the coolest, cheeriest statement decoration for the holiday season.
