Bon Ton Stores, whose jewelry departments were formerly run by Finlay, said it plans to stay in the jewelry business, reported the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, citing a company conference call.

it was exiting its long-standing business running leased jewelry counters, including Bon-Ton.

as saying they “are exploring different options” in response to the Finlay move  — including not selling jewelry at all.
The company owns 280 department stores. For the first quarter of 2009, the company announced same store sales fell 8.6%
