Chicago-based Whitehall Jewellers, Inc. has named Beryl Raff CEO. Raff will also join the company’s board of directors.
Raff was most recently senior vice president and general merchandise manager of fine jewelry for Penneys, a post she has held since 2001. Raff worked for six years at rival jeweler Zale Corp., including as its CEO from September 1999 to February 2001.
Raff stepped into the job immediately following the Aug. 12 announcement.
Lucinda Baier, who served as Whitehall’s interim CEO since the death of Hugh Patinkin in March, will continue as president, The Chicago Tribune reports.
Whitehall Jewellers, Inc operates 388 stores in 38 states in regional and superregional shopping malls under the names Whitehall Co. Jewellers, Lundstrom Jewelers and Marks Bros. Jewelers.
