Another Apple Veteran Joins J.C. Penney

Apple veteran Laurie Beja Miller has been named executive vice president of The Square at J.C. Penney.

She will lead the retailer’s effort to serve as a gathering place with ongoing attractions and services.

Miller will report to company CEO Ron Johnson, former head of the Apple retail chain, who has laid out ambitious plans to revitalize the chain.

“In the golden age of department stores, America’s families came for more than just to shop,” Johnson said in a statement. “They were able to have fun experiences and were offered a range of useful services. We are going to revive that excitement and convenience at J.C. Penney.”

Miller, 54, has spent the past 20 years in retail. In addition to serving as vice president, special projects, at Apple, she has also worked at Bare Essentials, Spiegel, and Pottery Barn.
