J.C. Penney CEO Ron Johnson, the former head of the Apple retail chain, hasn’t been shy about raiding his alma mater for talent.
Daniel Walker has been named J.C. Penney’s chief talent officer, the company announced Nov. 14. Walker previously served as the chief talent officer at Apple from 2000 to 2004, a period which saw the launch of the iPod, iTunes, and the Apple retail stores.
Walker also served as vice president of human resources at the Gap, and director of human resources for the specialty retail group at General Mills.
“For someone as passionate as I am about building extraordinarily talented organizations, there is no better place to be right now than J. C. Penney,” Walker said. “The company is committed to having the best associates at all levels as we work to reimagine everything about our business.”
