Ya’akov Almor Joins the Women’s Jewellery Network

The Women’s Jewellery Network has appointed veteran industry communications consultant Ya’akov Almor (pictured) its business development director.

Based in the United Kingdom and founded in 2017, the Women’s Jewellery Network aims to connect, grow, and inspire women working in the jewelry trade.

Almor has held many communications and editorial jobs. He currently serves as director of communications of the Moscow Diamond Bourse, the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, the Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America, the International Diamond Council, and the World Diamond Museum.

Almor said in a statement, “Under [founder and managing director] Victoria [McKay]’s leadership, this organization has already punched far above its weight.  I am looking forward to working with the team, utilizing my specialist knowledge, experience, and contacts to support them in further distilling the vision and creating impact, in leveling the playing field for women across the jewelry industry globally.”

He said announcing his appointment on International Men’s Day was a “deliberate and significant choice.

“IMD is all about recognizing the positive value men contribute to the world, their families, and to their communities. I’m honored to be joining a team that values the difference in us all and seeks to highlight positive role models of all genders. The IMD 2019 theme is ‘making a difference for men and boys.’ A theme which the WJN vision absolutely supports, as positive changes for women are positive impacts for us all.”

McKay, who formerly served as chief operating officer of the London Diamond Bourse, runs the group, along with research and insights director Kathryn Bishop and communications director Nyasha Pitt.

Almor has also worked for the Israel Museum, International Diamond Publications, the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, the Israel Emerald Cutters Association, Colgem, the World Diamond Council, the World Jewellery Confederation, and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.
