The U.S. Olympic Committee has chosen Alex and Ani to design the trophy for the Team USA awards.
It is the first accessory company to be chosen to do so.
The trophy was inspired by the Statue of Liberty’s torch. The torch’s base was inspired by Liberty Island, home of the statue.
The flame is 14k gold plated, and the award’s base is blue sodalite, known as the “stone of athletics.”
The award ceremony is on Dec. 10 in Philadelphia. Nominees include Serena Williams and the World Cup–winning U.S. women’s soccer team. The awards honor the achievements of Team USA athletes.
