Manufacturers also have plans to reach out more to retailers. Recognizing that most of the Turkish industry works with wholesalers, Cihan Kamer, chairman of the influential Turkish Association of Jewelry (TAJ), says that the industry has places to mobilize more toward this part of the industry. “We are well aware that this is a part of the industry we have to have some more focus on,” he stated.
But when it comes to the industry as a whole, he is fairly bursting with confidence about its ability to reach its goals. “We believe that the increase in export figures will continue,” he says. “We have total faith in ourselves and believe that we will be able to do more. We intend and plan to be the biggest gold jewelry exporter in the world within the next five years. We have all the means necessary to get this hard task done.”
