David Kwiat Dies

Sad news … David Kwiat, a prime force behind the famed jewelry company and brand, died Monday August 11 at age 94.

According to grandson Greg, David Kwiat was one of the first diamantaires to “have an inventory of important diamond jewelry,” he says. “He wouldn’t just cut the diamonds, he would make jewelry around it. He was a craftsman and an artist who understood manufacturing both diamonds and jewelry.

And while David stopped coming into the office a few years ago, his last day of work was “Friday,” Greg says. “He never stopped working. When we were making a new piece of jewelry, he always had thoughts on technique and ways to make it better.”

On a personal level, Greg says his grandfather was a “wonderful man, very engaging, intelligent, devoted to his family. He was an intense businessman but he always made time for family. He had great pride as his company changed over time.”

Our condolences to wife Shirley, sons Lowell and Sheldon and daughter Carol, who all work for the family business, as well as to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
