Swiss Watch Exports Still Showing Declines

But exports to the United States rose 5 percent in January

Swiss watch exports started 2017 the way they spent all of 2016—down.

Overall exports fell 6.2 percent during January, according to statistics released by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS).

The group said that while steel timepieces showed some recovery, precious metal timepieces were still down.

One ray of light: Exports to the United States increased 5 percent in January, marking the second month in a row U.S. exports have risen.
