Birks & Mayors Gets New CEO

Jean-Christophe Bédos, who previously headed upscale jeweler Boucheron, has been named the new president and CEO of Birks & Mayors.

He succeeds Thomas A. Andruskevich, who announced his retirement in September.

Bédos was president and CEO of Boucheron International from May 2004 to June 2011. Previously, he served as the managing director of Cartier France from 2002 to 2004. He started his career in the jewelry industry at Cartier in 1988. Bédos will be based at the company’s head office in Montreal, Canada.

During Bédos’ first three months, he will be the chief operating officer, reporting jointly to Andruskevich and board chairman Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera. He officially becomes president and CEO April 1.

Birks & Mayors operates 61 stores in Canada and the United States, including 32 stores under the Birks brand in Canada, and 26 stores under the Mayors brand in Florida and Georgia. The company has also announced plans to expand into China.
