Diamond Club West Coast Founder Ralph Shapiro Dies



Ralph Shapiro, long-time president of the Diamond Club West Coast and one of the people behind its founding, died at his home on Sept. 6, the club announced.

No other information was available.

A club statement said, “We all remember Ralph as the driving force behind Diamond Club West Coast. His tenure as president of the organization was memorable. Under his leadership the club became a familiar name the world over.”

The statement also hailed Shapiro’s “expertise and knowledge of diamonds.”

“Ralph was recognized for his leadership, friendly demeanor, and continued efforts in advancing the interest of the club and the world diamond industry,” the statement said.

Shapiro’s wife Bea, who was also in the diamond business, died in 2001.
