Bon Ton, Neiman Cite Strong Jewelry Sales

Department store chains Neiman Marcus and Bon-Ton Stores
again cited jewelry as a top seller in April.

Neiman Marcus called “precious jewelry” a top seller in its
specialty retail stores segment.

The company’s comparable revenues were up 8.3 percent for
April. Total revenues were $305 million, an 8.3 percent increase from 2010.

Bon-Ton, which operates 275 department stores, said fine
jewelry was among its “best performing categories” in April.

Overall April “comp” sales increased 5.1 percent. Total sales increased
4.6 percent to $197.7 million, versus $189.1 million for the prior year.
