New York manufacturer Oscar Heyman & Brothers will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2012. The jeweler plans to unveil the Oscar Heyman 100th Anniversary collection throughout 2012. “The collection will feature iconic pieces to reflect Oscar Heymans ingenious designs over the past 100 years. Ten decades of jewelry design,” says Andree Coroon of Oscar Heyman. “Some pieces will be of or from that period, some pieces will be inspired by a certain period, and some pieces will be newly created for this centennial!”
The company’s founding brothers trained in the workshops of Fabergé before coming to New York to found the company in 1912, only to create commissioned pieces for such renowned houses as Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., and Harry Winston. Jewelry connoisseurs may recognize the firm’s work in such pieces as the Cartier-commissioned necklace featuring the legendary Taylor-Burton diamond.
“2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Oscar Heyman and we will be celebrating this landmark event throughout the year by launching a new look for the brand, participating in shows around the world, premiering our 100th Anniversary Collection, and hosting special events with our retail partners,” said Tom Heyman, treasurer for Oscar Heyman & Brothers, in a statement. “Our goal for Oscar Heyman’s 100th anniversary, indeed for the next 100 years, is to continue growing the Oscar Heyman brand name. More now than ever, we are designing and creating for our retail partners signature collections and individual pieces that are coveted by jewelry lovers around the world.”

The ambitious Big Egg Hunt has two goals. First: to raise £2 million for Action for Children and Elephant Family, leading charities benefitting children and the endangered Asian Elephant, respectively. The second goal of the event is to set a Guinness World Record for the world’s biggest-ever Easter egg hunt. Participants in the event have the 40 days and nights of Lent to hunt down as many of the 200 giant crafted eggs as possible, interacting with clues that will take them on a journey throughout the city of London.
Each egg, which stands at two-and-a-half feet and is made of fiberglass, will be exclusively decorated by world-class artists, architects and jewelers including Vivienne Westwood, Theo Fennell, and Diane von Furstenberg. They will be available via auction once the event has commenced, along with an exclusively designed jeweled egg pendant by Fabergé in collaboration with Nicky Haslam. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the aforementioned charities.
The “World’s Most Eggclusive Breakfast,” hosted by food writer and broadcaster Tom Parker Bowles (son of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall), took place at the Goring Hotel in London on Nov. 22, the official launch day of the event. The breakfast featured the first-ever dish to be commissioned by Fabergé: smoked salmon, scrambled Burford Brown eggs, quail’s egg, lobster, and caviar. For those who missed a taste of the delectable feast, don’t fret! The dish will be available throughout the duration of the event at London’s Goring Hotel.
“It’s about time to have some fun again,” Elephant Family director Ruth Powys said in a statement. “Forget about your worries—for 40 days and 40 nights we’re going to put a smile on your faces and brighten up our great capital city. Like everybody, charities are up against it and you need to think out of the box, so welcome to another fun and vital initiative to protect our children and the endangered animals that share their world.”

On Jan. 4, luxury jewelry house Goshwara, launched a new website. The redesigned site features six colorful navigatinal tabs, showcasing multiple collections, the Goshwara story, press, and the brand’s blog. The intention of the redesign was to capture a broader audience, while displaying a cleaner, more luxurious look.
“I believe the redesign of goshwara.com will allow for a fun, yet luxurious way to admire our jewelry. We strongly advocate knowledge of gemstones and why they are so special. This site will provide necessary information to educate and excite,” said Goshwara president and designer, Sweta Jain in a statement.
