The Obama administration said Monday that it will inject $15 billion into small businesses by buying up securities that are linked to small business loans. 
Profits for Bulgari SpA, one of the world’s largest luxury jewelers and watchmakers, fell 45 percent to 82.9 million euros (about $106 million) in 2008, according to its annual report released Mar. 11. 
Net income for the Swatch Group, the world’s largest watchmaker, slipped 17.4 percent in 2008, to 838 million Swiss francs (about $723 million), in part due to losses in its electronics division, according to its annual report, released March 12. 
A federal court on March 11 sentenced a suburban Philadelphia man to six years in federal prison for fabricating fake Rolex watches, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Jewelers of America is urging Congress to reintroduce and pass the Sales Tax Fairness and Simplification Act, which would permit states to require that remote sellers, such as Internet companies, collect and remit sales and use taxes.
