2003 a positive year for jewelers

Preliminary sales reports for year-end 2003 are in from the U.S. Census Bureau, showing that sales at jewelry-only stores were up nearly 7% over 2002. Sales for the fourth quarter ’03 alone increased 9.5% over the same period the year before.

Total sales for 2003 were $26.8 billion while fourth quarter 2003 sales were $10.76 billion. Meanwhile, total sales for 2002 were $25.1 billion with fourth quarter sales coming in at $9.9 billion. *
