>>?­Jeweler Alan H. Friedman, colored-diamond dealer and part of the family that once ran Borsheims, died of an apparent heart attack June 21 at age 60.

>>?Frank Fialkoff, CEO of Haskell Jewels, died June 8 at age 70.

>>?David Balogh, founder of Balogh Jewelers in Miami Beach, died June 4 at his home in Miami. He was 94.

>>?Henry Platt, the former chairman and CEO of Tiffany & Co. who is credited with introducing tanzanite and tsavorite, died July 22 at age 91.

>>?Herb Lewis, a respected industry leader and top executive at Bulova and Allison-Kaufman, died June 9, just days after his 100th birthday.

>>?Gary Roskin, a gemstone expert and former JCK editor, has been appointed executive director of the International Colored Gemstone Association.

>>?Andrew Bone has been appointed executive director of the Responsible Jewellery Council. He previously served as De Beers’ global head of government and industry relations and as VP of the World Diamond Council.

>>?Mikkel Berg, former global chief marketing officer of Pandora, will now hold the same position at rival charm brand Endless Jewelry, founded by former Pandora exec Jesper Nielsen.

>>?White Pine Trading has named David L. Haverly its sales manager for the Southern region, which includes Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, ­Kentucky, and parts of Florida. He has 32 years in the industry, most recently as a sales rep with Imani Brothers.

>>?Mike Ellis, president and chief operating officer of Kroger, the parent company of Fred Meyer Jewelers, has retired after 40 years with the company.
