After the death of longtime IJO manufacturer member Robert Schwager in February 2000, many contributions were made in his memory. His son Ronny Schwager used the money to create a scholarship fund in his father’s name, specifically for the study of pearls and exclusively for IJO members. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded annually at the February IJO show. One of the first recipients was Kevin Bingle (left, pictured here with Ronny Schwager), of Allen Jewelers in Beaver, Pa. Victoria Bonanno, of Yarmouth Jewelers in South Yarmouth, Mass., was the other scholarship recipient.
