My Fashion Space

Networking site MySpace.com caters to gossiping high school students, proud new mothers, and even savvy businesses. Enthusiasts of music and movies can further connect through the subcommunities MySpace Music and MySpace Film, which focus on content that's specific to their interests. So where do MySpace's fashion- and design-minded members congregate? In their own chic place, of course: the newly launched MySpace Fashion channel.

Unveiled days ago, the community aims to connect MySpace users with fashion brands, designers, and celebrities. Unique content includes videos of runway shows and an e-zine filled with fashion news and products courtesy of streaming video from In Style magazine. MySpace editors post designer profiles and video, including a segment dubbed The Fit, which highlights the wardrobes of celebrities like Hilary Duff. Devoted and trendy MySpace fashion bloggers can even serve as guest experts for a Who What Wear Daily feature about styling.

All of this means big opportunities for jewelry firms. Profiles set up on the MySpace Fashion channel enable marketers to test new products and communicate directly with consumers. Press hungry Paris Hilton even tapped the site's power by posting video coverage of her recent fashion line launch at Los Angeles–based Kitson to the site.

Good timing accompanies this launch, too, as the 2007 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York starts next week and we expect lots of activity from editors and fashionable consumers posting show videos and recaps of related events and parties.

Weekly Gem
If you were outraged when Tacori launched a jewelry line on the QVC television network, you might be peeved again upon hearing this news: Anthony Nak has launched a line for QVC; Anthony Nak, as in the multiple-award-winning, dripping-in-chains gold and platinum styles that only the most moneyed of admirers can own. Anthony Nak for QVC jewelry is silver, a little less pretty, and a lot less pricey.
