As the dog days set in, we're yawning at the thought of summer clothes and beach traffic. As we daydream about sweaters and boots, we also look forward to trading in sun damage for a little culture this fall. Here, a selection of the best style-related exhibits going on across the country.
Click Chic: The Fine Art of Fashion Photography, New York. Documenting fashion photography as a vehicle for creative expression, the exhibit includes nearly 50 images by six New York–based photographers. Cultural reference points include art nouveau, Buddhism, film noir, modern dance, and Japanese Kabuki theater. School of Visual Arts Museum, Sept. 6–Oct. 6, 2007.

Jewelry by Artists: The Daphne Farago Collection, Boston. A new collection of contemporary craft jewelry includes works of jewelry by American and European artists like Man Ray and Pablo Picasso. Museum of Fine Arts, through March 5, 2008.

Ornament as Art: Avant-Garde Jewelry From the Helen Williams Drutt Collection, Houston. The exhibit, featuring 275 pieces of jewelry, explores the impact of contemporary jewelry as a global art form. A Woman's Treasure: Bedouin Jewelry of the Arabian Peninsula, College Station, Texas. A rare 100-piece display, on loan from the Glendale, Ariz., Bead Museum, includes a broad selection of Bedouin jewelry. J. Wayne Stark University Center Galleries at Texas A&M University, through Aug. 12, 2007.

Forget bachelors and washed-up celebrities. Rumor has it that the newest reality series in the works at the moment focuses on the jewelry industry. Should the series come to fruition, expect to see a handful of familiar names and faces (along with their customers) working together in a jewelry store in a major U.S. city.
