JCKstyle - June 1, 2007

All the greats have played Vegas. Elvis, Wayne Newton, JCKstyle ... Yes, the style team had a full house for their fashion seminar Wednesday during The JCK Show ~ Las Vegas conference program. In case you missed us, here’s just a quick recap.
On the runways for fall, the most important trends, like voluminous silhouettes and Mod influences, demand jewelry that is bold with clean lines. Button earrings, cuff bracelets, and layers of bracelets and chains, for example, replace delicate and dainty pieces from past seasons. These trends are favorites of celebrities as well, along with bib necklaces and exclamation earrings (linear drops with a larger stone at the end).
JCKstyle also offered jewelers tips on how to bring fashion into the retail environment and attract that increasingly important customer, the woman buying jewelry for herself. Some of our favorite ideas:
-
Dress the part in the store, making sure sales associates wear not just the latest jewelry but also the latest clothes.
-
Show jewelry on mannequins, giving women a better perspective of what the pieces look like on the body.
-
Have a full-length mirror in the store so a shopper can try on jewelry and see it as part of an entire outfit.
-
Host events (like Oscars parties) that relate to style. These may be non-selling events that focus solely on building a fashion-forward local reputation.
