Admit it—sometimes you get a little sick of seeing the same old bridal designs. While bridal jewelry is the most consistently salable product in our industry, it is also one of the most staid, with innovative designers like MaeVona and Shaun Leane only beginning to infiltrate the market.
And so it is with love that we embrace LVOE, a new jewelry line carrying interesting, modern, same-sex wedding rings—an under-explored corner of the market. LVOE is introduced by manufacturing company Fabrikant-Tara International and hits in spring 2007. The collection, composed of 42 designs, includes solitaires, diamond and color bands, and is aimed toward gay men and women, bisexuals, and transvestites—a population that, the company says, has a buying power of over $450 billion annually. The ring collection is made with yellow and white gold and defined by such contemporary touches as black diamonds and modern shapes. In a statement, Fabrikant-Tara describes it as "trend-forward, sleek, [and] new-age." To additionally separate from the traditional male and female bands of bridal, the entire line is unisex. Fabrikant-Tara hopes it will appeal not only to its target consumer, but to fashion-forward buyers of all sexual orientations. Here's to LVOE!Weekly Gem
One of our favorite people and designers, Robert Lee Morris, has been chosen by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for the Perry Ellis Lifetime Achievement Award. Like the venerable members of the CFDA (Donna Karan and Calvin Klein will reportedly present the award), JCKstyle can think of no one more deserving than Morris, a designer known for his talent and vision, and a man known for his graciousness and sincerity.
