Love, peace, and hope—virtues that we all strive to make a focus in our lives, and that Udi Behr, former Israeli paratrooper and award-winning jewelry designer (and JCK Luxury Designer Issue alum), has made the foundation of his business.
The Love, Peace and Hope Bridal Jewelry Collection, Behr's latest creation, is a proclamation of love for all to enjoy and a statement on behalf of those whose love has been marginalized. The line of engagement, wedding, and anniversary rings is designed for heterosexual couples who endorse the fight for same-sex marriage. The rings sport a small diamond set inside the shank to represent the wearer's support of same-sex marriage. And, in keeping with Behr's tradition of financially backing causes he believes in, Love, Peace and Hope is donating 10 percent of each sale to Lambda Legal, an organization that focuses on the civil rights of gay Americans and those with HIV.
To launch the line Wednesday, a group of volunteers handed out 1,138 roses at Union Square in New York as part of Behr's 1138 Roses for Rights campaign. Each rose had a card attached explaining one of the 1,138 rights given to heterosexual couples through marriage that are denied same-sex couples who cannot legally wed. www.lovepeaceandhope.com

He who once lamented the diamond trade as "something so wrong" is now launching his own line of diamond jewels. Kanye West, known for his "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" song, is reportedly collaborating with Takashi Murakami (the Japanese artist who created pop art–inspired looks for bag-maker Louis Vuitton) on the jewelry. Apparently, West recently wore a prototype piece, and onlookers described it as "a huge gold manga-style" diamond pendant.
