Mark Your Calendars

Hello? Helloooooo? Is there anybody at their desks out there? No? We didn't think so. In typical late August form, the fashion and jewelry industries have collectively rushed off to the Hamptons, the Vineyard, and assorted other sandy spots to squeeze in a little late-summer R&R before the crush of autumn events begins. To help you get your calendar in order, JCKstyle has compiled a list of must-watch events for the season:

What: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York
When: Sept. 5–12
Why: It's the most important event in fashion. (If we have to tell you more, you might be beyond our ability to assist in being a fashion savvy.)

What: MTV Music Awards, Los Angeles
When: Sept. 7
Why: The blending of music, style, and celebrity make this a unique event where everyone feels free to take fashion risks.

What: 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, Los Angeles
When: Sept. 21
Why: It falls right behind the Oscars and Golden Globes as a must-watch event for tracking celebrity trends.

What: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Los Angeles
When: Oct. 10–17
Why: The fashion aspect may not be as strong as New York's Fashion Week, but the blend of Tinseltown stargazing and West Coast designers give it its own special appeal.

What: Latin Grammy Awards, Houston
When: Nov. 13
Why: The fashion is bold, the starlets are daring, and the trends that emerge are especially relevant for the younger and urban markets.

Weekly Gem
Target has a new partner in design, and (finally) an eye on mixing fine (or, at least, bridge) jewelry with its trademark style-for-less mentality. This week, the retailer debuted a limited-edition collection created by Dean Harris. Materials include sterling silver, semiprecious stones, shells, and pearls. Prices range from $19.99 to $79.99, with two special holiday pieces priced at $99.99 and $249.99.
