World Diamond Council President Resigns

Andrey Polyakov (pictured, right) has resigned as president of the World Diamond Council, which represents the industry in front of the Kimberley Process.

Polyakov, the vice president of Alrosa, has served in the role since May 2016. His resignation is tied to his planned resignation from the Russian diamond miner, said a spokesman.

Current vice president Stephane Fischler (pictured, below) will serve as acting president until he begins his preplanned two-year term as president, starting May 2018.
