WJA appoints Anna Martin as its president

The Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) has appointed Anna Martin of ABN AMRO Bank as its new president.

Ms. Martin, a member of the WJA board for the past two years, is a Senior Vice President and Regional Manager, North America, Diamond, Jewelry & Precious Metals Group, at ABN AMRO in New York City. She succeeds Phyllis Bergman, president of Mercury Ring Corporation, as the 7th president of this national volunteer organization representing the interests of professional women in the jewelry, watch and related industries.

Over the past 35 years at ABN AMRO, Ms. Martin has been responsible for significantly increasing the Bank’s diamond lending and diversified the portfolio to include jewelry manufacturers and jewelry retailers. Today ABN AMRO is one of the leading banks providing integrated financing to the jewelry industry.

Ms. Martin is a Governor and League of Honor Sovereign of the Gemological Institute of America. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the GIA and the Jewelers Board of Trade. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Jewelers Charity Fund and was inducted into the “Diamond Hall of Fame” by the Diamond Industry Steering Committee. She is the recipient of the “Premier Patron” award from the Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association and received the Community Achievement Award from American ORT’s Jewelry Chapter. Ms. Martin also received the Annual Award for Excellence in Special Services from WJA in 1999.

In addition to its new president, WJA also announced a new Executive Committee and board. The Executive Committee includes Vice Presidents Aline Walker of Key Designs, Ann Arnold of Lieberfarb, Inc., Isabella Fiske of Lieberfarb, Julianne Jaffe of JJ Marco, Kathryn Kimmel of GIA, and Cindy Edelstein of Jeweler’s Resource Bureau.
