Tiffany Designing Jewelry for Gatsby Film

Tiffany & Co. has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures and Bazmark to design jewels specifically for director Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 literary classic.

The company, with the film’s director and costume and production designer Catherine Martin, created a collection of platinum-set diamonds and pearls that complement the period clothes.

“This collaboration is a natural for us,” said Jon King, executive vice president of Tiffany & Co, in a statement. “Our archives contain spectacular jewels from the 1920s that are the basis of the one-of-a-kind designs we have created for this iconic American story.”

In addition to the jewelry, the interior of Jay Gatsby’s home in the film also features with china and sterling silver flatware and other accessories by Tiffany & Co. Luhrmann’s Gatsby—which stars Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, and Leonardo DiCaprio (in the title role)—began filming in September in Sydney, with a reported budget of $125 million. The movie is aiming for a winter 2012 release.
