The Vivid Yellow Fetches $6.6 Million



A rare, highly saturated 32.77 ct. fancy vivid yellow diamond sold for $6.6 million at Christie’s New York’s Magnificent Jewels sale Oct. 18 in New York City.

A 25.74 ct. oval-cut D color, potentially flawless diamond ring sold for $3.9 million, and a 3.21 ct. modified pear-shape fancy vivid blue VS2 diamond fetched $2.7 million.

Other highlights included a 123.22 ct. diamond line necklace of 57 graduated pear-shape D-color diamonds selling for $1.4 million, and an Art Deco diamond and multi-gem Cartier Tutti Frutti bracelet, circa 1930, that fetched $962,500.

The auction as a whole raked in $46,599,650, and was 83 percent sold by lot and 93 percent by value.


25.74 ct. oval-cut diamond from Graff Diamonds. The diamond is mounted in platinum and flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond.
