Thailand’s international watch fair

Thailand’s Central Department Store is hosting its annual Central International Watch Fair in Bangkok September 6-22. The affair will be held at its Chidlom store in the Central Exhibition Hall.

For the first time ever, the fair is bringing together complete lines of the world’s leading names in watches for a two-week exploration of the horological art in an endeavor to promote Thailand as a center for watch enthusiasts and collectors from all over the region, the company said in a statement.

“The timing is quite deliberate,” said Allan Namchaisiri, senior vice president of Central Department Store. “September is absolutely the earliest we could hold this fair and still be able to present each brand’s complete model line.”

More than 40 brands will be represented in a new exhibition zone. On display will be high-profile brands in three groups: Luxury Timepieces, showcasing luxury brands such as Piaget, Ulysee Nadin, Corum and Breuget; Hi-End Watches, including Omega, Rado, Cerruti, Breitling, Ebel, Raymond Weil and IWC; and Mid-Range Brands, including DKNY, Amarni and Guess.

The exhibition will also feature three separately themed areas, each showcasing 10 of the world’s best watches in their respective categories.

“Deep in the Blue Sea” will comprise the newest innovations in diving watches, with models such as the Omega Seamaster Professional 300M, the TAG Heuer 2000 Exclusive Diver, and the Oris BC3 Divers Regulator.

“Beyond Blue Skies” will highlight the cutting edge in aeronautical watches including the Breitling 50th Anniversary Navitimer, the IWC the Big Pilot’s Watch, and the Wenger Brigade.

“Modern Sophistication” will house the latest in complicated watches, including the Ulysse Nardin Triple Jack, the Corum Tourbillon, the Audemars Piguet, and the Breuguet Anniversary Tourbillon Regulator.

The annual fair will once again stage a “collector’s corner”, where local watch enthusiasts will display their private collections.
