Swatch Group Sees Record Sales, Profits



Swatch Group, the world’s largest watchmaker, announced
record sales and profits for the first half of 2011.

The company’s “very positive growth spanned all major
regions and all price segments,” it said in a statement. “The outlook for the group
in the second half of the year remains promising, particularly given the fact
that July is confirming the trend in sales and results of the first half.”

Among the highlights from its first half financial
statement:

Gross sales from watches and jewelry: $3.6 billion, up 13%

Total gross sales: $4.2 billion, up 11%

Total net sales: $3.9 billion, up 11%

Total net income: $721 million, up 25%
