Swarovski, Eddie Borgo, and Mouawad Make Glittering Appearances at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which took place in Paris on Nov. 30 and airs tonight on CBS, included a whole lot of sparkle thanks to crystal giant Swarovski and luxury jewelers Mouawad and Eddie Borgo.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show devotees expect to see the unveiling of the iconic million-dollar Fantasy Bra—designed this year by Eddie Borgo—at the brand’s annual runway show, but there was even more bling this year thanks to two additional industry titans: Mouawad, which dressed the Victoria’s Secret supermodels in an array of rare gemstone jewels, and Swarovski, which collaborated with milliner Gladys Tamez to make what they call a Million Dollar Hat for performer Lady Gaga.

The star of every Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is inarguably the Fantasy Bra. This year’s piece, the Bright Night Fantasy Bra, was made in 18k gold with more than 9,000 diamonds and emeralds (in excess of 450 cts.), is valued at $3 million, and was modeled by American model Jasmine Tookes, who became a Victoria’s Secret Angel last year. The other jewels worn by the models, including statement necklaces and earrings, came from Mouawad’s Masterpiece Collection and totaled more than $12 million in value. Each piece was specifically chosen to complement the lingerie designs. Jeweled suites ranged from the $685,000 worth of 86 cts. t.w. diamonds and rubellite in 18k white and pink gold on Angel Stella Maxwell, to the $3.3 million of white gold and 73 cts. t.w. diamonds worn by Victoria’s Secret model Izabel Goulart.

Meanwhile, Swarovski’s crystal-studded, Gladys Tamez–made cowboy hat worn by Lady Gaga (who performed “John Wayne,” from her most recent album, Joanne) was made just for the pop star. The hat featured 45,700 Swarovski crystals and an additional 700 jet black crystals on the crown and brim, and required 300 hours of labor by 10 craftspeople to make.

According to Tamez’s camp, the hat’s look is “Bob Mackie meets Gypsy Rose Lee,” and the light from the black-felt hat’s crystal stands for “optimism and hope and the importance of being true to oneself.”
