Photo Find: A Perfect Bracelet

From time to time, I come across a photo of an individual styled so beautifully with jewelry that the photo deserves comment and another admiring look.

The nod this time goes to Maggie Gyllenhaal, whose look also merited full-page coverage as “The Best Dress” in Hal Rubenstein’s “The Look” in the October 2008 issue of In Style magazine. Rubenstein salutes Gyllenhaal as an “unconventional beauty in a beautifully unconventional silk floral gown” by Dries Van Noten.

The gown is gorgeous, with the artful placement of bright abstract flowers on a black strapless design. Gyllenhaal keeps her neck bare, wearing relatively modest earrings and, in an admirable example of elegant restraint, adds just one perfect bracelet.

The bracelet is a vintage 18 karat gold and diamond, highly dimensional bow design cuff from Fred Leighton. This is a great example of the wrist corsage bracelets I swooned over in my blog last May.

Notice how the design of the bracelet mirrors the shape and even the size of some of the abstract flowers of the dress. The harmony of the jewelry with the dress is exceptional. Notice too, that the bracelet isn’t too large in diameter for the wearer – a problem we see often with young celebrities in borrowed jewelry. The cuff fits Gyllenhaal’s wrist perfectly. What a gorgeous look!
