Meet the 20-Year-Old Jeweler With a Celebrity Following

It’s no mystery to me why designer Ariel Neman, at only 20 years old, has found a way to get his unisex jewelry collection, Regime NY, on a host of celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Jamie Foxx, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Hailey Baldwin, and a rundown of hot hip-hop stars.

Certainly, his edgy designs are both on-trend and innovative, tapping into a kind of hip-hop-cum-Roman vibe that feels very now.

But even before I laid eyes on his designs, which are priced from just under $100 to around $400, the designer was cheerfully messaging me on Instagram and eventually (and unprompted) sent over a Dropbox full of brand-new, magazine-caliber photos of his collection.

Neman hustles—and more brands should be emulating his can-do persistence.

“The best advice I can give someone is to never take no for an answer,” he told GQ earlier this year. “If someone tells you no, prove to him or her that you deserve the yes.”

Of course, no amount of hustling can compensate for a product lacking in charm and ingenuity.

But Neman has the goods to keep our attention. The base metal collection, which is manufactured in New York City, is full of bold looks that incorporate diverse motifs and treatments, including hammered metals and timeless motifs ranging from crosses to ancient coins.

Standout designs include oversize safety pins dripping with iconic charms, chunky chain bracelets composed of oddly shaped alternating links, and a (Persian-inspired?) silver pendant necklace with a curvy, florid design that includes a turquoise-colored stone.

“I started the line from nothing,” says Neman, who created his first piece two years ago when he was 18. “My goal is to set forth the notion that jewelry is as important as clothes. It represents creative expression and individuality for both men and women.”
